I found this good-condition softcover at a local thrift shop and thought it sounded intriguing. It's a collection of essays, originally published in French, including the title essay - which deals with the intricate "Prison" engravings and others, clearly an inspiration to the work of Escher. Another extols the work of Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf - who I had not heard of before, so I was glad of the information! (The comparison of her Adventure of Nils with Kipling's Jungle Book definitely piqued my interest.)
