Journal Entry 3 by authorauthor at Alexandria, Virginia USA on Thursday, April 27, 2017
This is one that came home from me after the Kensington Day of the Book Festival over the weekend.

I loved Phyllis Whitney's YA mysteries when I was a kid. I saw this one on the Bookcrossing tables at the book festival and I couldn't resist. I remember reading every one of these that I could get my hands on as a child, but somehow I missed this one.

I just finished it today, and it didn't disappoint. It follows the same basic outlines that all of them do: a girl finds herself in an unusual, unfamiliar place where she stumbles across a mystery. While solving it, she is also forced to confront some issues in her own life. Like all the others, this book drew me in with a sympathetic protagonist and a fascinating setting. The mystery was intriguing and included enough danger to add some excitement. And the life lessons are widely relevant but never preachy. Now I want to find copies of all the others so I can reread them all!

I'll release this in my Little Free Library, or maybe on an upcoming out-of-town trip.
