Mailed out to New Mexico as part of the "Books I've read" VBB. Enjoy! I'd love to know what you think of her journey (inner and outer.)
Arrived in the mail - thank-you!
I have to admit that I almost gave up on this one, but I'm glad I stuck with it....but there was quite a bit of eye-rolling :-) I'd love to know how much the Monster weighed at the beginning of her trip!
I will hang on to this for the next round of the Non-fiction VBB, since it has probably been a full round of the "Books I've Read" participants? Or did I claim it off the non-fiction VBB? Oh, crap. Whichever one comes next. I really need to get a clue.

Mailed - sorry for the delay!
Thanks for sharing this book. I’ve been interested in reading it for some time.
Sending to booklady331 as part of the Nonfiction VBB. Enjoy!
Thank you so much for sharing this book with me. It arrived today.
Cheryl was not very wise to begin the journey she did without training or proper finances. I am sure she did learn a bit about herself.
Enjoy! KTM RABCK WL book to another BCer for Allergic to A Release Challenge 2022
The book has arrived. Thank you.
The subtitle of the book says it all, "From lost to found on the Pacific Crest Trail"
Cheryl very impulsively started her trek on the PCT and was extremely unprepared. Sure, she had a few months to plan and had bought gear, but that was about it. As a backpacker myself, I cringed reading how she was packing Monster for the very first time, with gear she had never even taken out of its store packaging, the morning she was to head out on the trail.
In the course of her journey, she grew. She became a more experienced hiker and after hours and hours of spending time alone, she morphed into a beautiful butterfly. Okay, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration, but she was able to shed some the guilt she had been carrying around about how the relationship with her ex-husband had ended, the death of her mother, and other experiences from her pre-PCT life that was weighing her down. By the time Cheryl reached WA state, she was mentally and emotionally stronger than she had ever been.

adding to the Duets bookbox.
Chose from the Duets bookbox.
I cringed reading how unprepared Cheryl seemed to be as she started out on her journey. She wasn't physically conditioned nor had she even had her packed backpack on her back before the morning she set out on her journey. Her determination along with people (guardian angels) she met along the way helped her to achieve her goal. Cheryl grew on the inside and out on her journey.

It's fun that this book has traveled to so many readers. I may grab it to share with either a friend or a local book swap. I tend to think that her willingness to describe how unrealistic she was when she started out, shows the amount that she grew. She really could not imagine a trip where she wouldn't need a miniskirt and condoms. She could not imagine herself as a woman whose relationships were based on friendship and empathy. She had no idea how much she was risking her life, until friends helped her be safe...highly recommended: it's a heck of a journey.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
An interesting meditation on what you learn in the mountains.
Very well written- I couldn’t put it down. Glad it appears things fell into place for her, but she was very lucky and I am glad she ended up safe and appreciates all the support she got along the way. Isn’t it a shame women still need to be careful where they go alone. My back twinged every time she talked about the Monster and I am 6’5” 230lbs.
