Smoke Gets in Your Eyes: And Other Lessons from the Crematory

This was a staff pick at my favorite bookshop - Bear Pond in Montpelier, VT. Their recommendations are usually spot on. No exception this time. I was especially taken by the section talking about how death in America is not surrounded by anything meaningful, but rather by convenience and a desire for someone else to handle it. Ritual is important.
I am sending this, from Vermont, to my niece and her husband in Funkstown, Maryland. One of them has it on their to-read list. After they've read it, they will set it free.
It took me a little while to get to this book but I’m so glad I finally picked it up! Cremation it is!
Setting this book free to a friend while she’s in town visiting.
