Martha is caring for her mother, who is beginning to suffer from dementia. When she finds a letter from a solicitor she visits him, to find that a stranger, Elizabeth Pringle, has left her house to her mother.
On visiting the house Martha falls in love with it and decides she will go to live in. She also wants to find out more about Miss Pringle and what led her to leave the house to Martha's mother.
I enjoyed reading about Arran (not a place I've been too) and liked the characters in the book. I felt the emotions Martha and her sister experienced watching their mum's decline were well written too.
