In a little coffee shop in one of the most dangerous places on earth, five very different women come together. SUNNY, the proud proprietor, who needs an ingenious plan - and fast - to keep her cafe and customers safe. YAZMINA, a young pregnant woman stolen from her remote village and now abandoned on Kabul's violent streets. CANDACE, a wealthy American who has finally left her husband for her Afghan lover, the enigmatic Wakil. ISABEL, a determined journalist with a secret that might keep her from the biggest story of her life. And HALAJAN, the sixty-year-old den mother, whose long-hidden love affair breaks all the rules. As these five women discover there's more to one another than meets the eye, they form a unique bond that will for ever change their lives and the lives of many others. The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul is the heart-warming and life-affirming fiction debut from the author of the bestselling memoir The Kabul Beauty School.

It’s a bit of a mix between “A thousand splendig suns” and “Christmas at the comfort food cafe”. Like classic chicklit entangled with female abuse, discrimination and injustice.
So a bit of an odd mix, just like the odd mix of people that live, work or meet at the little Coffee shop in Kabul. Some stories were interesting, some were a bit lame. I liked the stories about the Afghan people and I felt like Sunny + Jack + Tommy lovestory was a bit lame and unnecessary for the book.

Finished this book a few weeks ago and now it’s ready to travel to the winner of the global sweeps. Not sure if it is the winner’s taste, as it is this odd mix between chicklit and a more serious story about several social and cultural issues in Afghanistan.
I always try to post my controlled releases with real stamps and I know you entered my previous stamps sweeps, so I tried to add lots of different types to this envelope (although i think I have sent quite a few parcels to you before, so you probably have a lot of them already).

Thank you, Femke85 for this book and all the stamps 😀!
