So this takes place after the Lost Years of Merlin books, and before the Avalon books. I have only read the first of the Merlin books, and none of the Avalon books. But this stood out well on it's own. I enjoyed following the story of Basil the small but mighty and fierce not quite dragon and his adventures to save Merlin.
