I got this fair-condition little softcover from an online seller. It's a collection of rumored hauntings around Cornwall, with photos of haunted towns, cathedrals, and other spots. Some of the entries are frustratingly terse, while others get more page-time - and I was intrigued to find that some are based on historical murders, while many others seem to be the stuff of folklore. (The one about the girl who borrowed a young man's mackintosh only to have him find it on her grave next day is clearly of the "Ghostly Hitchhiker" sub-genre.)
I'd love to visit the region someday, especially Land's End and other parts of the coast. Not in hopes of seeing ghosts, nor of hearing long-sunken church bells, though that would be a bonus! One of the more colorful and unusual tales is set near Land's End, and deals with a Chinese gift to Queen Elizabeth I of some Pekingese dogs, attended by a young princess. The ship wrecked and all died, but it's said that a ghostly dog sometimes bites those who visit the site - and the bite is said to be fatal...
I liked the one about the hidden room in a house that was being demolished - when the room was exposed, it seems there was a skeleton seated at a table inside! Nice dramatic stuff, whether it's true or not!

I'm sending this to BCer Cordelia-Anne in Georgia, to fill a wish for the US/Canada wishlist-tag game. Enjoy!

It was so lovely to come home, open my mailbox and find a wishlist book! Thank you GoryDetails! Thank you bookcrossing! My family is from Mullion on the Lizard Peninsula--or that's where one great-great grandfather came from. My last name is Cornish. Many of my family members are buried at St. Keverne where they were all christened, catechized and married. Amazingly, a mermaid is actually buried there among the Cornish. In 1497 Michael An Gof started a rebellion there against the British. He was eventually captured and executed but his statue is still standing at St. Keverne. I may have to immigrate backwards! I really look forward to reading these tales and am glad GoryDetails enjoyed them.
