A pretty funny little book. But I found the book about Danes more funny!

The book is with me, along with its traveling companions. Swedes rather fascinate me, they are in so many ways the most bizarre nation in the world. Looking forward to reading this book.

FINALLY getting around to journaling this book ... ! I am SO sorry that I have been so slow to journal it. Of course I have read it and I quite enjoyed it. The author makes a lot of good points. Of course it's somewhat tongue in cheek but there are a lot of things that make you chuckle. It's funny because it's true. :-)

I've asked babelfisk for her address so hopefully I will get the books on their way to Sweden soon ... ! It'll be interesting to hear what a Swede thinks about this.

About melancholy, scantiness in words, silence, eating fermented herring (surströmming) and always coming on time!

Very amusing! I recognize most of it.

Det går inte snabbt... men det går långsamt.

I found myself wanting to argue with the author at times. ”No, that’s not why Swedes do X at all!” So I guess it’s pretty spot on ;) I’ve given this to foreign friends because it’s a funny take on Sweden and Swedes. It’s tweaked a bit for comical effect, but it gives a good idea of the things we believe is ”common

PS. Fermented herring is a delicacy. Fight me!

Handed it over to beson tonight.

I am looking forward to reading this book and learning how I truly am.

I didn't read the whole book, I picked and chose what I wanted to read. I think a lot of the descriptions are very true and accurate but also miss the point of that Swedes aren't as homogenic as we like to think and advertise to the world. That could have been a great point to make. Some of the descriptions in the book feel dated as if they talk about a generation above me.

I did not feel that the author was as prejudiced as I felt in the book about the Norwegians. Maybe they were not in that book then either, even though I felt that way.

Regardless I am grateful that I got the opportunity to read this book and I will certainly be weary of what I say and do around LeishaCamden from now on. :-)
