In my first "book binge" of the year (not counting the Nepali kids' book I bought on the 6th) I stopped yesterday by the small bookstore that flanks the Hotel Vaishali in Thamel. I was in an odd mood, I admit, as I scanned the shelves. Their used section was 50% off, probably because the books were all rather old and not so clean. In fact, when I brought them home I carefully wiped the covers down, something I never do, because they just looked like they needed it.

This printing is very different from any other I've seen to date of this author's work; in fact it is a first US printing of this title, in hardback.

I've enjoyed the Hamish Macbeth mysteries that I've read so far -- they are usually fun, light reads, so I picked this one up. I don't think I've read it before; at least I hope I haven't.

Been reading more of late, thankfully—made an effort to read instead of just mindlessly internet surfing, where I end up reading stuff I don’t really care about or always enjoy just because it’s easy.

This was a good, quick read. I feel like it’s earlier in the series than previous Hamish Macbeth books I’ve read, but I’m not sure. Things feel more innocent like, and even though parts are a bit formulaic and the ending a little too conveninent, it was still a lot of fun. I enjoyed the Willie-and-Lucia bits a lot ☺
