The World According to Julius
14 journalers for this copy...
Some of you know I just lost my little wild man,Enkidu, my feline companion of 14 years. And just a year ago, I held Mr. Clooney and said goodbye~~he's the reason I'm sending this book out as the journal......Mr. C was a Best Friends foster, who was with me for four years. He was middle-aged, and during the first year he was with me several adoptions fell through. Then I took him in for his annual, and he was diagnosed with diabetes, at which point I knew he'd be remaining with me. As did BF, though he technically remained 'up for adoption.' TR, Tight Regulation, is a LOT of work. it was hard, but I learned a lot, not just about diabetes. And I can say unequivocally, that caring for special-needs furbabies brings with it phenomenal rewards. And that is why this book is going to make the rounds amongst the WILD THINGS :)

I've picked my books, sort of, and I have my stack to put in. However, one is a tortoise, which is, um, still taking its time to get ready for the trip. What can you say, you can't rush a tortoise.
At this stop, some animals get off the bus and some get on. Still a lot of animals cannot make it in, especially the dogs - just too many of them. I hope another round of animal bus will come around soon!
Getting off:
The Daily Coyote
My Cat Spit Magee
Ella in Europe
The Wild Trees
Grayson
Sky Water
When the Swallows Come Again
Boarding the bus: a tortoise, a lion, a rooster, some chimps, a pair of horses, and many dogs -
Timothy; or, Notes of an Abject Reptile
Dogtown (about dogs at Best Friends. I hope the cats and dogs have a happy reunion)
A Lion Among Men
Buddy
Doga
White Horses Over France
Great Apes
Gizelle's Bucket List
Dogtown
Man O' War
Timothy, or Notes of an Abject Reptile
I put in these:
Lost & Found
The Lobster Chronicles
The Dogs of Babel
Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World
This box is on its way to heartthumper. Thanks!
Dog Eat Dog
Still Life with Elephant
Beauty in the Beasts
The Camel Bookmobile
And added:
The Elegance of the Hedgehog
Facing the Lion
Box is on its way to 6of8. Thanks for including me!
Taking out
Cat Tales for Christmas
Seabiscuit
Facing the Lion
Stalking Ivory
Little Dog Lost
The Cat on My Lap
Putting in
Time Stops for No Mouse
Alex and Me
The Cat that Changed My Life
Enslaved by Ducks
ETA my review of the book
Only when I opened this book did it register that it is about Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and a special needs cat. I was pleased to visit the sanctuary in Southern Utah about 20 years ago and we toured Benton's House, where the special needs cats live. I don't guarantee that the orange cat with the funny walk who is my greatest memory of the visit was Julius, but the odds are good. I remember being stunned to realize that people were not willing to adopt animals with special needs, because I grew up with parents who worked with people with special needs and many of their colleagues had special needs pets, as did we. That visit is probably the reason why, when I was finally in a position to adopt a cat, I went looking for one with special needs (Minerva had FIV). So Julius' philosophy had a direct impact on my life. I enjoyed reading his story.

And in case anyone notices the number of books Readertoo pulled, it was with my express encouragement. When I saw her original contained many non-animal books, I pm’d letting her know she was welcome to pull any or all of those, to read or release, to save herself some postage.
Thank you all for participating~~ hope you are enjoying your critters😊
FYI, I have a show opening Thurs, so it’s highly unlikely I’ll get any books journaled before then.
And it still is.... that’s just what seems to keep coming my way.... But I am busy sorting through a ton of stuff (currently in my garage as a valve broke and the basement flooded), and am in the hopes of eliminating at least half of it. Which brings me back to this book box; I probably have enough animal books for three boxes!! Fiction and non-, but still primarily domesticated rather than wild.
This will once again be a shrinking a box, as I do desperately need less that I started out with😉
Please let me know if you are interested. I will post in the forum later today, but right now I’ve got to run off before my coffee roaster closes~
Julius has gotten bored sitting around the house during this damn pandemic, begging to travel. So even though I can’t travel now (sob), Julius can. His bags are now packed and he’s ready to fly.
Please remember to help Julius lighten his bags as he travels by taking out one or two more books than you replace. I hope you all enjoy the box and find new friends ~ And if you haven’t met Julius before, he’s a quick read.😉
So he’s leaving here with the following (please journal your changes);

I did get to the post office to pick up my mail before going in hospital, but I didn’t get the box opened until after my two weeks with my daughter. I didn’t think I did that long, and many ways I didn’t, but I quickly realized I couldn’t even see to take care of the drain… And I must admit being pampered was kind of nice😉
At any rate, I am home, and doing well. I will get the books journaled as quickly as I can (I have two boxes to do nowaaagh!)
I’m so happy the box came back considerably smaller!! And even happier, but I’ve already read half the books in it, so they can be released quickly-yay! And the others are all books I want to read ~ what a win-win🙂
