When I was looking for something typicalliy for our region, I found that little book which is well known in Germany. Normally it's printed as a storybook for children. The autor was a physician in Frankfurt who wrote it for his little son as a christmas present.

When Mark Twain stood in Berlin he translate the story for his three daughters ...

It's now travelling to USA.

I'm truly delighted to have received this little book as a part of the bc ornament exchange. I'm familiar with Der Struwwelpeter (and a few of the other verses), but have never been able to read all of them all the way through. (Mein Deutsch ist sehr schlect.) And I never knew that Twain had translated it - and as a Weinachtsgeschenk (Is that even close to richtig?) for his daughters! Very cool choice for a Christmas exchange !!

I'm really looking forward to spending more time with both Twain's Nachdictung and the new, better understanding I'll have of the original. Thank you so much, chawoso!
