When Jane Charlotte is arrested for murder she informs the psychiatrist that she is a member of a secret organization devoted to fighting evil and she was workign with them to dispose of "bad monkeys" aka irredemable persons. What the psychiatrist can't determine is whether she is crazy or lying. Or something else altogether.
