Ghostly Anniversary In Colonial Williamsburg

Summary from back cover:
Taking place in present time, this is a ghostly little tale about a couple celebrating
their tenth wedding anniversary at the place where they honeymooned --
Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.
More than just seeing or hearing the undead,
they are able to communicate with some spirits.
Sometimes the outcomes are strange and whimsical but other interactions become
heart-wrenching and horrifying.

The author of this book runs the gift shop and is the tour guide for the Walton's Mountain Museum in Schuyler, VA., he also maintains the website.
In the gift shop was a massive amount of these books that he had written, they weren't exactly flying off the shelves, I felt sorry for the gentleman and so purchased the book.
This small book of a little over a hundred pages shouldn't have taken more than an hour to read, but I couldn't read more than a couple of pages at a time ... and it took me forever to slog through this mire. A disjointed hot mess sums up this book quite nicely, in only three words!
The next time he gets the urge to self publish a book, I hope that he finds a trusted, honest friend to give it a gander and offer up some sage advice.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Off on a trip in the Otherworldly Bookbox.
Despite the less-than-glowing review, I'm claiming this from the Otherworldly Bookbox. I'm sure I can find a nice ghostly spot in which to release it!
Later: Yeah... I see what you mean! The idea's good enough: couple on vacation to celebrate their anniversary, spending time at Colonial Williamsburg and having ghostly encounters. In execution, though, it is a bit lacking. I could overlook some of the typos and need-of-editing, but the story itself swings wildly from "only a dream" to "only a different dream" to "wait, did that bit actually happen?"
While some of the incidents were very touching (finding ways to help sad spirits pass on, etc.), others were quite terrifying - one, indeed, featured a brutal ghostly assault on the wife, which gave me pause as the author had said up front how much he disliked the modern tendency for "excessive sex, violence, and confrontations" - so why'd he put that scene in his book?
The note that "photographs do not necessarily correspond to the story" amused me - and frustrated me, too - though it went with the back-cover note that "if you do not like ghost stories, this is a nice little photographic travelogue of Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, if you enjoy that sort of books." But... the photos have no captions, so while they do offer images from the site, they aren't all that informative.
All that said, I got some entertainment from the story, even if the nested-dreams/reset-button-ending irked me. Oh, the dialogue was stilted and unrealistic, the couple's bickering got a bit tedious, and the wife's avid-ghost-hunting behavior led her to "Bad Tourist" territory - trying to climb over fences, pushing into not-open-yet businesses, etc. , but there was a certain charm to the whole thing.
