"Sheila Broome died in the wintry isolation of the Devon countryside. Ivy Childess was strangled in the heart of London's Mayfair. Devon's stubborn Divisional Police Commander Brian Macalvie is convinced that both killings are the work of one man. And so Inspector Jury finds himself embroilled in a murder hunt that ranges from the sleazy backstreets of Mayfair's Shepherd Market and the faded glamour of out-of-season Brighton to the genteel environs of a Somerset country house ..."
At the beginning, this novel could not convince me at all as I found it a bit too ordinary, it seemed to offer no big surprises. But with Melrose Plant's slapstick adventures, Martha Grimes added just the right dose of something weird and special that made reading this book a pleasure for me.
