Caro - the fatal passion: the life of Lady Caroline Lamb

I ordered on amazon.co.uk after returning from the local village Book Group. I was amazed that its ISBN number was recognised when I registered it!
As yet unread, but will return and comment when I've finished.

What a pity I couldn't make it to the Sutton reading group for the discussion of this book! I had read the first half, revolving almost exclusively around Lady Caroline Lamb, very fast, as soon as the postman delivered my copy. Then I spent a few hours compiling a family tree for the characters, as it all got a bit confusing.
Then I resumed reading about three days ago, starting on the second half where Lord Byron makes his appearance.
It's a good read, except that it's been out of print since 1972. The author's descriptions of Byron's "friendships" with boys at his public school were not quite as "honest" as we'd expect from a modern-day writer, I felt. All in all, the imagination of the reader filled a lot of gaps, particularly in the earlier part of the book. Nowadays, we frequently complain that too little is left unsaid: I think this book is an example of not enough being spelled out to avoid false conclusions!

Because of unforeseen space & time restrictions, I have had to donate BC books which I registered years ago to charity shops. This is one of them I'll probably not get round to re-readng.
