Some Kind of Fairy Tale: A Novel

Some parts of the story really resonated with me - the idea of a beloved child or sibling, long thought lost, turning up again; the awareness of lost time and wasted years; the pangs of doubt, guilt, and fear... Oh, and the whole bit with the cat! And the wildly inventive place where young Tara "disappeared" to, and the old psychiatrist's interpretations of same. And much, much more - the writing, the characterization, the pacing, it all just worked.
I'll be looking for more by this author, though I'm not sure I should measure anything else against this one! (I'd read his The Silent Land via audiobook some time back, and it did have some of the same elements of weirdness, but I wasn't as happy with the characters or the conclusion of that one.)
