A very funny collection of stories about being a doctor at the NHS with a sad, shocking, and sometimes unbelievable thread running throughout.

Put in Favourite Lines bookbox
Plucked from the Favourite Lines bookbox.. I had a hunch it was going to be this book, great thank you 😊
Wow..couldn't put this down. I can see why it's the book of the moment/year. The diary is just that, an account of the daily life and grind of a doctor out of medical school and it's not really until the end that the anger of how the NHS is drained of staff and resources is brought to bear. Kay must have been just too exhausted to be angry when he was a doctor and can now let it all out-needs more people like him to be heard (not that it will make a damn difference at the next election!) There were moments in the book tho that despite the genuine mistakes brought about through exhaustion and lack of training/oversight, when I just thought 'no that's just incompetence, why are they still practising!! especially when he was referencing the consultants. I will probably pass this around my family before I send it off bookcrossed.

Thank you so much jules5 for sending this my way. I've been dying to read it after seeing it about everywhere I went upon release - and furthermore I had a job interview at a bookstore and they gave me a random book to describe to them, and funnily enough, they gave me this one! I'm eager to read this but just need to get through a couple of other books beforehand.
Thanks again for sending it my way.
