Summer 1553: A time of danger and deceit. Brendan Prescott, an orphan, is reared in the household of the powerful Dudley family. Brought to court, he finds himself sent on an illicit mission to the King's brilliant but enigmatic sister, Princess Elizabeth. But Brendan is soon compelled to work as a double agent by Elizabeth's protector, William Cecil--who promises in exchange to help him unravel the secret of his own mysterious past.

A dark plot swirls around Elizabeth's quest to unravel the truth about the ominous disappearance of her seriously ill brother, King Edward VI. With Elizabeth's lady-in-waiting at his side, Brendan plunges into a ruthless gambit of half-truths, lies, and murder.

Handing over some books to Nu-knees!

Journal Entry 5 by wingNu-Kneeswing at Knaresborough, North Yorkshire United Kingdom on Friday, April 6, 2018
This is one of around half a dozen books I was given by millycat during a lovely day out with our husbands in an unexpectedly sunny Knaresborough yesterday. Perhaps Spring is here at last!
I might read one or two of them before rereleasing - but not this one as I enjoyed a previous copy almost exactly four years ago!
Thanks anyway, lass. Good to see you again!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

To my friend and neighbour Blower! Enjoy!

Well over a million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 over twelve million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!

Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't have to cost anything, although the site always appreciates donations towards running costs, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!

From my friend and neighbour Nu-Knees.
I haven't read an historical novel for a while so looking forward to this.
I started this while on holiday on the Isle of White.

Really enjoyed this book. I can't believe how much happened to Brendan Prescott in just a few weeks. The important note from the author reminds us that this is a work of fiction and takes as it's premise - What if?
It interweaves fact and fiction, rumour, deduction and imagination to tell a story.
Very good, it makes you want to check what really happened and who all the historical characters are.
