Got this in the mail a few days ago, but it has now been re-united with its BCID.

I have added a label, but will need to leave this on the TBR pile for a few more weeks, since I am buried in work. I am looking forward to it!

Thanks, Torialouise!

(20/11) - Just realized that I sent this on without adding my thoughts. Hard not to spoil the book by commenting. Without getting over-explicit, I loved it. Not surprising, I guess...

Released on Monday, November 15, 2004 at about 12:00:00 AM BX time (GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) at Postal Release in Royal Mail, England United Kingdom.

The book arrived today. Thank you for sending it. :)

I'm actually reading another Iain Banks book right now (The Bridge) and enjoying it, so I'm looking forward to reading another one. But until then, this one goes on Mount TBR.

UPDATE Dec. 16, 2005: I've got to really start reading for my PhD prelim exam. So I have to majorly cull Mount TBR and will pass this book along unread.

Adding book description: The Business, a sly satire of corporate success, begins with every promise of fulfilling those standards. Kathryn Telman, "a senior executive officer, third level (counting from the top) in a commercial organization which has had many different names through the ages but which, these days, we usually just refer to as the Business," has been selected to negotiate the Business's purchase of the sovereign state of Thulahn (where "the royal palace is heated by yak dung" and the "national sport is emigration"). Corporate takeovers are small potatoes compared to the acquisition of an entire country, and Kathryn's politely scheming superiors have set their sights on a seat at the United Nations and the "unrestricted use of that perfect smuggling route called the diplomatic bag."
