DReamlike book. A Birthday party set up for a Japanese Businessman in a South American country is taken over by terrorists. They had hoped to find the President there, but he begged off at the last moment to stay home and watch his favorite soap opera. From there we descend into a a quiet waiting while the hostage situation is resolved.
As time passes by we slowly get to know the best of all those trapped inside the Vice President's mansion. A few stand out, Gen the translator, who for the first time gets to speak for himself with Carmen, one of the teenage soldiers. Ruben, the Vice President, endlessly trying to play host and decide what he wants out of life, and the Soprano, Roxane Cross. Wonderful book.
Fly far little book!
