Thank you so much! This on seems quite interesting and funny. And who doesn't need something quick to read at times. :)

The book was heart-warming and rather funny, as children can be quite unpredictable. It was quick to read, but the Yorkshire dialect was a bit of a puzzle. :D

Finished! I confess, I began reading this already at work. Great little stories. I guess the story is a bit hard for the toddlers to grasp, so it's quite understandable that they fill some parts with things they are more familiar with. I loved the innkeeper - a future customer service ace - who said there was plenty of room in the inn. And the one who had wanted to be Joseph but ended up being the grumpy innkeeper - so no wonder there was room only for Mary in the inn. And the one from a Roman Catholic school, where the innkeeper was the star of the show, being interrupted over and over again when trying to sleep. "Now what?" I can so picture him. Although I have to admit that I've never seen this play. I've seen parts of it as part of this or that film, but it was never played in my school. In our school the eight grade (14-year-olds) did the play at the Christmas party, but the play didn't necessarily have anything to do with Christmas. We did a play called The Heaven's Gate where an old sinner died and his wife managed to catch his soul in a sack as it was leaving the body and decided to take the sack and somehow get it past St Peter as without some help from her he would definately end up in the other place. Can't remember very much about it, except she managed to fool St Peter and slip in her no-good of a husband. I played the role of a wife of a couple who didn't get in. I also remember one class doing The Midsummer's Dream.
Back to the book; like Mrs Webb, I was also in tears when reading the story of the woodcarver. And good grief, I never thought Santa was in danger of getting head lice from the kids. Do you know why we never had nits when kids? We borrowed each others' hats and combs all the time, but no nits. I heard an old hairdresser tell on the radio that normal shampoos used to have a bit of secticider in them. It differs from other ciders so that it kills everything smaller than a squirrel. All went well in our nit-free world except - then came allergies. The Allergy and Asthma society (I'm not making this up) announced that because of some people are sensitive to these shampoos, nobody can use them on a regular basis. They need to have head lice and then get a presciption.
Being the Ambassador of Yorkshire (according to Deltic) I also loved the Yorkshire Nativity. And the 10-11-year old boy who remembered the inspector from his last visit, saying "Once met, never forgotten." Just you wait, young man...
Pic: Three years ago we went to the Vilnius Christmas Dog Show in Lithuania and found these guys in the market place.

Absolutely hilarious! I laughed aloud several times. One of the best was the egg, but I also loved the landlord who had plenty of room in the inn and the other who only took Mary in.
I highly recommend this book, especially if one needs chearing up.
Returns to Kirjakko for the Yorkshire Day exchange.

Thank you so my dear friend kirjakko! This book looks just what I need to read next. Thanks for pulling rank as the Ambassador of Yorkshire and calling Dibs on me. 😂
How is everything? I have been back to work for 6 weeks now, and we have our first positive case of Covid. We also had a student BLM protest inside the high school. Oh but life is just so interesting. It is getting closer to time to me to retire, I am getting too old to work this hard!
Best wishes to you and those that you love, stay safe and Happy Bookcrossing!

What an amazing book to grab off my shelf tonight, and I can’t believe that it has been waiting for two years! I am finally going to retire from the high school in June, so more time to garden, postcross and read. I am starting the winter break, and going to try to cull my TBR Mountain Range.
Best wishes to you all and to those that you love in this Holiday Season, stay safe and May you always have a great book to read, a hot cuppa tea and the time to enjoy them both in the New Year!
