Noah is four and wants to go home. The only trouble is he's already there.
Noah is a little boy who knows things he shouldn't and remembers things he should have forgotten. Because as well as being a four-year-old called Noah, he remembers being a nine-year-old called Tommy.
He remembers his house.
His family.
His mother.
And now he wants to go home.
Two boys. Two mothers.
One unforgettable story . . .

I've been thinking a lot about death recently, (guess at my age I'm getting more aware of my own mortality!) & while I'm not afraid of death...let's face it it's the one thing that's inevitable...I can't get to grips with the nothingness of it. Maybe that's why this book held me so rapt, the thought that we're all in effect recycled holds much appeal.
But what if we remembered our past life, what anguish would that cause to all involved? After all, quote:
"...people are not meant to remember. That's why most of us don't. People are meant to forget. Lethe: the river of forgetfulness. Only some lost souls had forgotten to drink from its healing waters - forgotten to forget."
This book tells the story of Noah who does remember a previous life & surely only the most hard-hearted person could feel no sympathy for what these memories put both his mothers through. (Okay I'll admit to welling up at one point- page 308 (end of chapter 33 if yours is a different edition *sniff*).
Backed up with genuine cases from Jim B Tucker's research (something which I'll be looking at in more detail) I found this a fascinating & compulsive read.
Reincarnation; some believe, many don't but one things for sure in my mind & that's we're not meant to know.....& especially not remember ;o)
