I was a great fan of the Michael McGarrity books about Kevin Kerney from the very first. That is until he moved into the labyrinth of headquarters bureaucracy at the State Police headquarters in Santa Fe. At that point, the books became somewhat predictable and frankly boring.

With this book, I happy to report that Kevin has returned to the great outdoors again with a very exciting book. Of course Kevin did not have much choice because in this story-line, he is the one being investigates as a probable murderer. Quite an inspiration to return to real investigations and leave the intrigues of politics.
