In the Unlikely Event
2 journalers for this copy...
Grew up reading Judy Blume. Had to get it.
Disappointing. Story really goes nowhere. There is about a billion characters and it gets confusing. To top it all off, there's a series of plane crashes which kills quite a few of them off.
I loved Judy's books growing up and I did like her few adult books too. I was excited to read this and bought a copy as I was sure i would love it.
This one... Well, there's no denying she can write well, but this just doesn't add up to whole lot. I honestly can't see where she was trying to go with it.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Taking to the book crossing meet up.
I picked this up because I loved Judy Blume's books as a child - but I'm feeling a little apprehensive after readinf Romy's review! I'll give it a go anyway :D
I actually really enjoyed this book. It's kind of a coming of age story set in New Jersey the 1950s, following a nubmer of different characters. I don't want to spoil anything too much, but after the 3rd 'incident', I had to look up to see if it was based on real live events, and it turns out it was - events that Judy Blume lived through herself as a young girl. So I guess, although this is a fictional book, it could be read as a reflection/memoir of where and when she grew up.
