The book arrived yesterday. Thank you, PyryJere, looks like an interesting read.
What a weird book and not in a positive way! If the book cover and back cover text include words like bizarre, misfit, loser, surreal, weird and Holy Grail, think hard whether it is your cup of tea. There are writers who can make a good story that can be described with those epithets but Stewart Lee isn't one of those. The first 50 pages makes you just squirm because there is no head or tale in the story. It is just a mindless mess of weird inner dialogue of a bunch of people who aren't properly introduced. Lee had also flipped through a dictionary in a quest to sound intellectual; he was trying so hard. I was so tempted to leave it at that but then I decided that I want to see if Lee can somehow bind all the strange strands together so that the story would make sense. It did get a little bit better but he did not succeeded to save the story. Maybe I'm just not the right target audience for the book but I was not impressed.
