"Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt."

Slaughterhouse 5 is real life war science fiction, which sounds like the world's most ridiculously oxymoronic genre but really, that's the best I can do. It's definitely got a science fiction flavour, although much of it is based on truth and Vonnegurt's first or second hand experiences. It's about aliens, kind of. And it's about war - well, it's anti-war, but you already know that. But what you might not know is that it's about war in a touching, quiet, heartfelt way. It's impressive, honestly.
