The Arsonist (Vintage Contemporaries)

I enjoy Sue Miller's writing style. She makes it easy to get immersed in the story. I was drawn to this one with its New England setting and an arsonist setting fires at the homes of the summer people. I don't feel like Miller did a good job of tying up loose ends regarding that; it was almost more of a backdrop for the rest of the novel. Actually, if I think about it, very little was actually resolved. Most of the storyline was giving us a glimpse at that period in one family's life.
Still, I prefer books that use great character development rather than ones that are plot-heavy, so I enjoyed reading this and will continue to look forward to reading more novels written by Sue Miller.

On its way to spoiledrotten as a wishlist tag. Enjoy!
Arrived in the mail. Thanks for the tag!
Well, I did not enjoy this book at all. My bookclub will be discussing it this week and I am anxious to hear what they have to say.
Mrsjones described this book very well, I too feel as though nothing was resolved, the story just seemed to drone on. This was not one of Sue Miller's best efforts.
Most of the book club did not enjoy this book. Out of 13 women Two liked it, most did not even finish it!
