Moscow, January 2013. Bunin, the Ukrainian president, has joined other heads of state in an open-air swimming pool to celebrate the Fourth Centenary of the Romanov Dynasty.

The book forms part of my permanent collection.
I love reading books by this author and this has been the best of them all so far!
His approach and style are unique: primarily satire, but with so much humour, insight and pathos. His commentary on current affairs and the weird world of modern-day international politics is sharp and spot-on.
Each character is three-dimensional, and the quirky plot keeps the reader spellbound. It's the rare occurrence of a book that scores 9 on both the quality and the enjoyment scales.
