One of my very favorite authors. This story takes place in the aftermath of the Columbine shootings, in which Maureen Quirk, a school nurse, is traumatized, and there is also a secondary story about the colorful and intriguing history of the Quirk family from the Civil War era to Caelum Quirk's (the protagonist) own childhood. I highly recommend this book.
