ABOUT THE BOOK:
Two people are abducted, imprisoned, and left with a gun. As hunger and thirst set in, only one walks away alive.
It's a game more twisted than any Detective Helen Grace has ever seen. If she hadn't spoken with the shattered survivors herself, she almost wouldn't believe them.
Helen is familiar with the dark sides of human nature, including her own, but this case--with its seemingly random victims--has her baffled. But as more people go missing, nothing will be more terrifying than when it all starts making sense....
MY REVIEW:
Settled into this as a Sunday read, and it gobbled up 6 or so hours of solidly engrossed reading.
I'm not sure this is superb writing, but the story certainly draws you in and the twists and turns (and somewhat giant leaps the story makes) made for an entertaining read for me.
I'll no doubt look to read the 2nd in the series, and I hope it develops the story and characters more, as I feel this book's shortcoming could be forgiven if it is indeed just a precursor for what is to come.

I'd agree with J4shaw's review. A good start to the series and I'll be happy to read the next one. The characters in this were good. Definitely a bit of the seedier side of life involved.

Thanks a lot mcsar for the book, lovely card and BC labels! :)
I have just been given a copy of this book in french, so I will release this one soon.
I've read the book (in french) and will copy-paste my comment:
A thriller that made me hold my breath until the end.
It's not possible to guess who is the killer at the beginning, so it makes you wonder a lot!
I really enjoyed this book, I just found it a little long towards the end.
