Fight or flight…
Meg Langslow is helping Mayor Randall Shiffley organize the Virginia Un-Fair, Caerphilly's entry in the race to replace the old, bankrupted state fair. Before a line can even form outside the ticket booth, however, a pair of Bantam Russian Orloff chickens are stolen from their coop in the chicken tent. Soon, a rash of vandalism crops up at the fair, showing no heritage farm animal, prize vegetable, or artisanal craft to be safe.
---
"Diverting…Enjoyable."―Publishers Weekly
As if patrolling the fairgrounds for the perp weren't enough, Meg runs into her cheesemonger friend Molly, who has another pressing matter: Her husband, Brett, has taken up with another woman and is now demanding half of their farm. But before Meg can find her the best divorce lawyer in the land, Brett turns up dead―and Molly becomes the prime suspect. When it comes to Meg's crime-solving in Caerphilly, nothing is ever elementary… in Donna Andrews' The Hen of the Baskervilles.
"The 15th novel in this bird-themed popular cozy mystery series offers more fine-feathered foibles to chuckle over."―RT Book Reviews

Quite a lot work and other activity for the Agricultural Fair they had. I visited the Agricultural Fair in Saarijärvi in the early 1960s. I don't remember much about it but the fact that suddenly the President of Finland with his wife were walking on the road and I took a photo of them.

Got this from a meet-up today, thank you. The Hound of the Baskervilles used to be one of my favourite books when I was young. I read it in the beginning of each summer as it was train read.
In the picture is Dartmoor Prison, which appeared in the Hound-version and which I saw again this week after 37 years - and no, I haven't been an inmate.

Just finished another Donna Andrews's book and noticed both of these are on Soozreader's wishlist, so I'm trying to read this as well and put an ärräbox on the move - they have a discount on sending them until March 24th. Should be able to read a few more books before that.
I thought only Annelis made her own butter cocktail, but here at the fair they had apple butter, pumpkin butter and different kinds of nut and fruit butters. Probably American concoctions as I've never come across these.
Shame on you, Donna Andrews! Even children (in Finland) know that a mule is a sterile hybrid of a donkey and a horse. Sterile as not being able to produce progeny, not sterile as very clean. Having said that, some very rare cases have been reported of a female mule being able to produce offspring, but a male mule - never. So your American Mammoth Jackstock donkey, produced by breeding a donkey to a saddle mare and then the offspring mule to a draft mare is rubbish. On the other hand, heritage breeds are real, so you could have picked a real one. A friend of mine is taking part in a heritage breeding programme of a rare Finnish chicken breed so people are really putting an effort into saving some good old stock and a silly writer gives an example of mule-breeding. Good grief!

Finished on Tallink Megastar returning from a 5€ (!) day trip to Tallinn. Annelis and I had a mission of releasing books in Tallinn and that we certainly did!
The book was not as good as the previous I read by Donna Andrews. The quarrels and differences between different counties seemed a bit far fetched.
