Bradbury Classic Stories 1: From the Golden Apples of the Sun and R Is for Rocket (Grand Master Editions)

3 journalers for this copy...

These short stories are just the right tasty morsels when you don't want to get stuck in a novel. Of course, you may find it hard to resist the next story.
Written in the 1940s and 1950s, it's interesting how relevant some of these stories still are. There is the little problem of both Venus and Mars having breathable atmospheres and native vegetation. And Mr. Bradbury seems to have been convinced that we would be living off food pills by now. Even his wide-ranging imagination had no hint that the Food of the Future would be kale smoothies.
"The Murderer" is particularly relevant. Oh, the details are a little off, but I suspect most adults in First World 2017 will recognize the feeling. "The Embroidery" is a more chilling little tale. And "The Big Black and White Game" was pretty bold for 1945.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Bringing to the BCinDC meeting today. Don't know who will get it, but it won't be coming home with me -- although some of the stories were very good. :-)

I picked this book up at our BCinDC meetup at Pizza CS in Rockville, Maryland, today. We moved our meeting there because the Pakistani restaurant was too noisy and crowded. Thank you so much for this book!

Today I received notice that FURBALL, the BookCrosser who registered this book, died in February, 2017, as a result of injuries from being struck by a motor vehicle in Virginia. I was deeply saddened and shocked to hear that news as FURBALL was an invaluable part of my local BookCrossing meetup group (BCinDC). She will be missed by everyone.
You can read her tribute here
Look for her name: Waneta Marie Achaj
I am keeping this book as it was the last book that I received from her. In addition, I'd like to read the short stories in this book.

I've had this book too long (seven years!) without reading it therefore I hope to release it soon so others can read it.
