Slightly different cover art.

A collection of very short fiction on a wide range of subjects. Some I found interesting, some I enjoyed, others did nothing for me whatsoever. Some witty, some just snarky, some fun, some thoughtful, some plain odd. Very Atwoodian actually, the overall tone probably best described as sardonic. A very mixed bag.

Reserved as a wishlist tag.

I have just spent a few hours in the winter sunshine and devoured this short collection. Very witty and insightful writing by Atwood that gives an interesting view of our world.

Received as an Australasian Wishlist tag - Thanks for passing this on jeniwren! Margaret Atwood is my 2nd favourite author of all time (she comes after New Zealand's most wonderful Margaret Mahy whose work I've loved since I was a child). I'm looking forward to reading this one.

There are some stunning ideas and phrases here but not as great as one of her novels. I like to have more time with each storyline, you don't get that here.

You really wonder where Margaret Atwood gets all those strange ideas. I enjoyed reading this book.
