"Ruby Lennox was conceived grudgingly by Bunty and born while her father, George, was in the Dog and Hare in Doncaster telling a woman in an emerald dress and a D-cup that he wasn't married. Bunty had never wanted to marry George, but here she was, stuck in a flat above the pet shop in an ancient street beneath York Minster, with sensible and sardonic Patricia aged five, greedy cross-patch Gillian who refused to be ignored, and Ruby...
Ruby tells the story oft The Family, from the day at the end of the nineteenth century when a travelling French photographer catches frail beautiful Alice and her children, like flowers in amber, to the startling, witty, and memorable events of Ruby's own life."

Thank you bluezwuzl for sending this book, as well as a Alexander McCall Smith novel, a great selection of teas, postcards, bookmarks and a lovely book bag, my way for the Tea and Mystery Sweeps. Even the box used to package everything is so delightful and summery, a heartwarming yellow background with sweet florals on top. I am beyond ecstatic to receive your package. Thank you very much.
I have not read either book. They are both from authors I am eager to read. I am pretty sure I will enjoy them very much, and will be doing so while sipping the lovely tea.

I am happy that I finally read the book. It has been sitting on my bookshelf for a while. It was one of the very first books I ever received from another bookcrosser. I made several attempts to start reading, but other books often got in the way. This book was not a fast paced page turner, but it was still a good read that I enjoyed. I like Atkinson's writing and her humour. By comparison, I prefer the Jackson Brodie series.
