Gentle tale of a writer and his wife, living in the Tokyo suburbs, who receive regular visits from their neighbours' cat, Chibi.

This was beautifully written and translated, but in the end I just didn't care that much about the characters. I shall pass it on to someone who is more of a cat-lover than I am in the hope she enjoys it more.

Don't think I really grasped the philosophical discussion about the encaustic art. And I'm now going to look up the zelkova tree on Google Images.
