The Father (Made in Sweden)
4 journalers for this copy...

How does a child become a criminal? How does a father lose a son? An epic crime novel with the excitement of Jo Nesbo's Headhunters and the depth of We Need to Talk About Kevin, The Father is inspired by the extraordinary true story of three brothers who held Sweden to ransom, committing ten audacious bank robberies over just two years. None had committed a crime before. All were under 24 years old. All of them would be changed forever. In this intoxicating, heartbreaking thriller, the fourth brother, who was not involved in the real robberies, tells of three boys who grew from innocent children to become public enemy number one - and of the man who made them that way.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Leaving on the bookshelves for the next lucky reader

This one looked ripe pickings for a prospect 666 read
13 June 2016
My Review:
Read for the 666 for 2016 - An Around the World Reading Challenge
Not for the faint hearted, this book packs a punch combining marital abuse, arson, robbery, alcohol abuse....but its the intricacy of the crimes committed that leaves you somewhat in awe of 3 brothers with no previous criminal activities on their wrap sheet, and therefore no footprint for the detective to hunt.
This was a compelling read that had me completely hooked from the start.
Co-written by a brother of 3 men who committed ten bank robberies in Sweden, the book switches viewpoint between, ‘then’ and ‘now,’ which creates a violent but brilliantly written novel.

Sending for the Authors from unusual countries sweepstake #8
I think this fits the bill as Anton Svensson is Swedish.

What an interesting read. I think this is Faction, based on fact but slightly fictionalised. The author is really two people, one is the member of a crime family and the other a journalist. Together they tell the story of an amazing Swedish crime spree conducted by brothers and in the final days the father. The book also examines the childhood experiences that create the conditions where antisocial behaviour is nurtured.

Was handed this book at a meet-up of Wellington Bookcrossers as the releasing person knew our my family's general interest in crime stories from Scandinavia.
It was a very good meeting with 10 people present and only one member unavailable that night. Good food available and very pleasant company. I am sure both MrFan and I will enjoy this book. Reading it will be a pleasant escape from packing boxes getting read for a household moving experience. Thanks Edwardstreet.
