Peter Robinson omnibus. From the back cover:

The Hanging Valley
A faceless corpse is discovered in a tranquil, hidden valley below the village of Swainshead. And when Chief Inspector Alan Banks arrives, he finds that no one is willing to talk. Banks's frustration only grows when the identity of the body is revealed. For it seems that his latest case may be connected with an unsolved murder in the same area five years ago. Among the silent suspects are the Collier brothers, the wealthiest and most powerful family in the area. When they start using their influence to slow down the investigation, Banks finds himself in a race against time...

Innocent Graves
One foggy night, Deborah Harrison is found lying in the churchyard behind St Mary's, Eastvale. She has been strangled with the strap of her own school satchel. But Deborah was no typical sixteen-year-old. Her father was a powerful financier who moved in the highest echelons of industry, defence and classified information. And Deborah, it seemed, enjoyed keeping secrets of her own... With his colleague Detective Constable Susan Gay, Inspector Alan Banks moves among the many suspects, guilty of crimes large and small. And as he does so, plenty of sordid secrets and some deadly lies begin to emerge...

Both of the books were good and entertaining. The stories were quite different so they worked well as an omnibus. I think the first story was quite straightforward though I prefer when Banks does his inspecting in the UK. The second story was a bit more surprising but I felt that the courtroom bit remained strangely superficial.

Thank you so much - haven't read either of these, and the Hanging Valley is next on my Banks-series!

I read the first book, The Hanging Valley, and enjoyed it a lot - I do like Banks and his quiet methods on solving crimes. Now saving the book untill it is time to read the next one (couple in series before that).

Now it was time to read the second one, Innocent Graves. Enjoyed this a lot, too. Complicated enough, exciting enough with the interesting Alan Banks!

Enjoy this mystery!
