A respected forensic psychiatrist is convicted of the gruesome murder of a serial killer ... but is she innocent?
When Dr Susie Harriot is convicted of the brutal murder of Andrew Gow, a serial killer in her care, it looks certain that she will be given a life sentence, depriving her of her home, her family and her two-year-old daughter.
Susie's husband, Lachlan, is convinced his wife is innocent, and is determined to find evidence to support an appeal. Every night he sits in Susie's study and goes through her papers - her case notes, her interviews with Gow, and the press cuttings from the trial.
But the more Lachlan uncovers, the more questions arise, leaving him wondering about the secrets his wife was hiding...

Into the Random BookBox.
Received in my Random bookbox on its return home. I like the sound of this one and it is an author I have not read that I am aware of so I think this will be read by probably two of us in this house! On to tbr.
Well, I am certainly aware of this author now, so thanks for adding it to the bookbox cross-patch. I thought it was going to be a lot more complicated than it was (unfortunately I guessed very early on what was happening and read on to find how the 'car crash' evolved) but thankfully it was less gory than I had expected - although, oddly, I do not know why I expected it to be gory. I did like the layout of this storyline however, it is interesting to have a prologue and epilogue topping and tailing the text between which gives an impression of 'reality' creeping into the plotline.
Quote "In her first stand-alone novel following her acclaimed Garnethill trilogy, Denise Mina looks at the shifting sands that separate fact and fiction, perception and reality, responsibility and culpability. Sanctum is a powerful psychological portrait of people living on the edge, an account of the deals with the devil that lie beneath their apparent respectability, and the terrifying journeys they are prepared to make in order to survive."
I have added this quote from Fantastic Fiction as I do agree with it in the context of this book and it helps explain where much of the storyline comes from. Denise Mina's own background gives major clues to the content of the storyline and although when I started this book I was not sure if I would ever finish it, I found I had read it in quite short order after that so, in my opinion, the story does pull you with it to the inevitable ending.
Mr Flutterbies9 has declined this one saying he has too large a tbr at present - his is only a third of mine, oops - but I may have another plan for this book. Watch this space .....

Released into a Bookbox. Happy travels little book.
Taken from Flutterbies9's Crime and Mystery bookbox.
I thought this was cleverly written. The prologue and epilogue make it seem like a true life report.
Lachlan, I liked, then disliked and then liked again.
I will look out for more of this author's work.
