Journal Entry 4 by Yelle1107 at BC Meeting 2016 in Castricum, Noord-Holland Netherlands on Friday, July 1, 2016
Released 7 yrs ago (7/3/2016 UTC) at BC Meeting 2016 in Castricum, Noord-Holland Netherlands
WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Let's see if a new reader can be found at the annual Dutch BookCrossing Meeting in Castricum. :)
I've taken this little box of books home with me. Not so long ago I've read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and I was very pleased, despite it being an old and outdated edition. Recently I came across the first three books all into one book and I took it home with me. But this small books are easier to carry around or to read in bed ánd it is the complete set. So I am very happy you've taken them with you to Castricum. Will surely be read and enjoyed.
I've read the second book of the Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, the Witch and the wardrobe, quite some time ago. Despite it being a children's book from the fifties I liked reading it. Now I came across a boxed set of the complete Chronicles of Narnia and decided to read them all.
This first book centers about Digory and Polly, two children who are neighbours. Via magical rings they discover other worlds. In the world called Charn they awaken the evil sorceress Jadis, who travels back with the to their home. The children try to rid themselves of her by fleeing into another world again, taking the sorceress with them. In this new world they meet Aslan and discover the newborn world Narnia.
Digory is a bit of a nuisance sometimes, but he has a good heart. He hopes to find a cure for his deadly ill mother. Polly is a little bit of a told-you-so-girl, but sweet nevertheless. Digory's uncle Andrew is a selfish old man trying to use magic to his own advantage. Sorceress Jadis is truly evil, there is not a spark of goodness to be found in her. Aslan is a mystery; the great Magical Lion. The creator of Narnia. These characters stand at the heart of the birth of Narnia and set in motion all events happening in the future.
They storyline is clear and easy to follow. The language is somewhat outdated, but that is logical for it has been written in the nineteen-fifties.
Verdict: I liked this introduction into the Chronicles of Narnia. I rate it with a 7* out of 10.

Took the whole series out of the fantasy book box. I had the Dutch version of part 1 in my book case, but I traded that with this complete box. I hope it will be good.
This is my first introduction to the world of Narnia. I like the fairy tale style of the book. Not everything is explained in detail and not all things make sense, but it tells the classic good vs evil story well and it makes me interested in the rest of the Narnia stories.
I will keep this book until I finish the rest of the series. I don't want to seperate the box set.

Dit boek reist in de fantasydoos door naar een volgende fantasy fan.
Uit de fantasydoos gehaald. Ik heb ooit de film gezien, maar wist niet dat er een boekenserie van was.
Finished book #1 (Chronological Order (#6 Publication Order)).
I'll hold on to this book until I've read them all. This way the set will stay complete.

Passed on to a friend.
My friend finished the books and gave them back to me.
