Fraught enough with danger to have the blood pounding in ones veins yet heart shatteringly romantic to have one hoping for a fine future for this star-crossed pair. Various friends and enemies alike get caught up in this tale of strange wolves surviving on the very edge of the human community of Mercy Falls.

Bit of a hic-cup there to my progress with Shiver as I put it aside for many months and catching up with it while possible I suspect took some of the heat out of it. Inventive plot, characters to both like and dislike with of course a few performing in both those roles just to make things trickier and some fairly torturous twists set to break hearts along the way. Are we going to like Sam as he seems so devoted to Grace or fear for Grace as Sam’s appearance in her life could bring as much danger as desire…

Stiefvater gives us a bittersweet ending with both hope for Sam’s future but yet a gnawing concern that a new challenge lies ahead for Grace.
