After reading this book, I was left mainly with the question: Why? Why did anyone waste the time and effort required to write this story presenting extremely well documented real-life individuals as fictional characters. The author claims that she wanted "to push deeper into the emotional lives of the characters and bring new insight to historical events." Frankly, I think this was a waste of time. The only insight I am left with is that if I had been Ernest Hemingway, I would have left Hadley right after she lost both copies of all of my manuscripts by leaving them untended on a train.
