Picked up from a local little free library to read as I enjoyed the parable of the sower in the past.
I had a hard time with the anthology Lilith's Brood which collected the first three books in Octavia Butler's xenogenisis series. Around that time I picked this up when I found it in a local LFL on the recommendation of several bookcrossing members I regularily chat with. However because I had just passed on Lilith's Brood unfinished, I set this aside. I picked this up yesterday evening, and found myself enthralled by this book. There is so much to really think about now that I am done reading it. I really loved how the book was written in a way exploring how a modern black woman would experience the time of a slavery society, where most black people were considered as property. How she would survive in a world where "all of society was arrayed against her because of her skin color. Adding in the fact that her actions affect her ancestors which could change the future for her.
I had this in my bag to wild release today, but showed it to a coworker who was really interested in it. So, I passed it on to her to read when she has a chance.
