I came across this fair-condition UK softcover at a local thrift shop, and couldn't resist. It's an anthology of real-life mysteries - though the title turns out to be misleading: one article deals with a devoted fan of Arthur Conan Doyle trying to determine the truth behind missing/mislaid papers, and while a couple of others deal with people who could be described as "devilish" they aren't connected with the Holmes/Doyle account. Still, the variety of subjects here makes for an interesting mix: French "serial imposter" Frédéric Bourdin; a 9/11 firefighter who was the sole survivor of his truck company but who suffered traumatic amnesia; the pursuit of giant squid; the sandhogs who maintain New York's tunnel systems; a Haitian death-squad leader turned real-estate agent - in a Haitian-refugee neighborhood... and more.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
I left this book on the curb on the 150-block of Main St. during this weekend's Art Walk event; there's a new Hollywood-film-themed mural in progress in the background. Hope the finder enjoys the book!
