An athmospheric, psychological thriller that I have won on lovelybooks.de:
When Glen is accused of a horrid crime, a dark shadow falls upon him and his wife Jean, the seemingly perfect couple. However, Jean stands by her husband, telling everyone that he is innocent, must be innocent. When Glen dies, the police and the press gather fresh hope that Jean will finally tell her story and that they will finally know what happened to the little girl Glen was accused of abducting...
The story is told from different perspectives, jumping back and forth in time from one chapter to the other. The titles of the chapters sound like a list of roles in a theatre play ("the widow", "the detective", "the reporter" etc.) and this novel resembles indeed more a psychological drama than an action thriller.
The author, Fiona Barton, has a great talent for creating characters that I find fascinating and realistic and at the same time disturbing for I always had the impression that they hide something, that their real intentions are unknown to the reader.
She thus masterfully creates the peculiar atmosphere where you have the feeling that you cannot trust anybody, not even your own judgement...

Happy reading!
This has arrived safely in Edinburgh with a whole bunch of extra goodies. Thank you, I'm feeling very lucky!
Oh my goodness, this gave me the creeps, just the thought of Glen upstairs on his computer. It was interesting because most of the characters were not particularly likeable, but they were well written. I liked the way you weren't really sure what had happened until the end. Thanks very much for sending me this one Colombina. I plan to save this for he next Edinburgh meet up I go to, as there are a few crime fiction fans.
And off it goes to keeta1 as part of the wishlist tag game. Happy reading!
The book is here already! Thank you so much bookfrogster, it sounds like a really good read.
I loved the postcard as well :)

I enjoyed this book, which kept you guessing until the end about the outcome.
Liked the way it was told from the different perspectives of the characters.

Excellent who dunnit, told from a variety of character's perspectives. Great read as I sit in my Wellington apartment enduring lots of earthquake aftershocks.
My first Wishlist RABCK arrival in my new home of Queensland!
Thanks Edwardstreet for sending this one - funnily enought it was actually seeing that Bookfrogster had read it that earned it a place on my Wishlist in the first place - we're usually pretty aligned with our reading taste!
MY REVIEW
Read 7th January 2017
This really was the ultimate psychological thriller! More so by the plot and the way it flips between characters and timelines, than the actual writing which is a little lacking. That said, it is a debut novel so can be forgiven....somewhat, given the author is seasoned journo.
The book orientates around the character Glen, a porn addict who 'falls' into child porn and is later accused to be a child killer. The main characters around him include his wife, a detective and a journalist.
All in all an enjoyable read but I would look for a little more depth of characters in her next book.
