Elizabeth Is Missing: A Novel

Maud, an aging grandmother, is slowly losing her memory—and her grip on everyday life. Yet she refuses to forget her best friend Elizabeth, whom she is convinced is missing and in terrible danger.
But no one will listen to Maud—not her frustrated daughter, Helen, not her caretakers, not the police, and especially not Elizabeth’s mercurial son, Peter. Armed with handwritten notes she leaves for herself and an overwhelming feeling that Elizabeth needs her help, Maud resolves to discover the truth and save her beloved friend.
This singular obsession forms a cornerstone of Maud’s rapidly dissolving present. But the clues she discovers seem only to lead her deeper into her past, to another unsolved disappearance: her sister, Sukey, who vanished shortly after World War II.

Amongst vividly vague geriatric confusion, parents, children, and clues are brilliantly interwoven until their truths are inevitably revealed.
Travelling with another book. Books shouldn't travel alone.
Thank you for this extra book, sounds interesting.
I really enjoyed this book. The story of Maud whose life is changing as she declines into the foggy world of dementia.
I thought the story is really about three things that are missing, Maud’s best friend Elizabeth who is mysteriously missing from her home, her sister Sukey who went missing when Maud was just a young girl, and the mental deterioration of Maud.
She kept grasping at glimpses of memories until eventually the story came together. Well written, and a glimpse at the mental decline and disorientation caused by dementia.

Picked up at today's meetup after a recommendation from Megan, will read and then probably pass it on to my family
Book is now with me. Pretty sure I have another copy of this on Mt TBR so might offer one of them at the next round of the OZ VBB early next month.
