The Red House Mystery (Vintage Classics)

Why did I not know that A.A. 'Winnie the Pooh' Milne had written an adult novel! As the cover says, a Rediscovered Classic indeed.
(19/03/18) I really enjoyed this, and I think AA did as well. Written before Pooh became a monster, I think this could have been the start of a great series. It has hints of Sherlock Holmes and all the period features (1920's) of a country house murder, an amateur sleuth and an intricate but very mannered plot. In fact the hero, Antony 'Tony'* Gillingham models himself on Holmes, has a sidekick Bill/Watson, and is obviously up for more fortuitous adventures like the murder at the Red House.
*And a special cheer for the rare appearance of a Tony in fiction!
