The Longest Ride

From the book jacket..."Ira Levinson is in trouble. At ninety-one years old, in poor health, and alone in the world, he finds himself stranded on an isolated embankment after a car crash. Suffering multiple injuries, he struggles to retain consciousness until a blurry image materializes and comes into focus beside him: his beloved wife, Ruth, who passed away nine years ago. Urging him to hang on, she forces him to remain alert by reminiscing about their lifetime together...
A few miles away, at a local bull-riding event, a Wake Forest University senior's life is about to change. Recovering from a recent breakup, Sophia Danko meets a young cowboy named Luke, who bears little resemblance to the privileged frat boys she has encountered at school."
My thoughts...I really enjoyed this book. The book tells two separate love stories, Ira and Ruth's, and Luke and Sophia's. I knew their stories would eventually converge. In typical Sparks' novels, the book has a happily ever after ending.

thank you dabercro
I very much enjoy Nicholas Sparks' story telling and the Longest Ride is no exception. First we are introduced to Ira as he starts reminiscing about his love story with Ruth, his wife who passed away years ago. Then we meet Sophia and Luke as they begin their story together. Both stories stand alone and have very little in common, until a chance meeting when the two stories combine. The ending was not a surprise at all, yet how Nicholas Sparks weaves the two stories together, I still found myself a little teary eyed reading the final chapters of the novel.
Adding to the Books I've Read and Journaled bookbox
I selected this book to read today and realized I didn’t journal this book upon selection from a bookbox. My apologies for the late journal entry.
This book has two love stories that intersect in an unexpected way. Ira and Ruth's story is beautiful and heartbreaking. Luke and Sofia's story is intense and also beautiful. This was a very enjoyable book.
I read this for PopSugar's 2023 reading challenge prompt: A book about an athlete/sport (bull riding).
