The landmark novel about anorexia nervosa--now with an autobiographical afterword by the author Leslie Hiller is a bright, attractive, talented teenager who leads a privileged life in New York City. She is also a perfectionist. When Leslie starts to diet, she finds herself becoming obsessed, getting thinner and thinner, until she is forced to realize that her quest for perfection is killing her.
First published in 1981, this groundbreaking novel has been lauded by countless librarians, educators, and teenaged readers. This new edition features an afterword by the author in which she discusses her own struggle with the disease, the difficult road toward recovery, and the lasting effects on her life.

arrived on the first courier run this morning, already read the first 2 chapters at lunch very engrossing so far! cant wait to finish it....tell you all about it when i do
i acutally finished this book a few days ago
but im in the process of moving but this is one of those books that makes you want to finish what you are doing faster just so you can sit down to read it.
i loved the werid little non-senceicle things she would say to herself in her head
and the constant update as to what she weighs.
however i feel that this book in the wrong hands could cause even more damage. even with the afterword.
i would have had liked to see more of her recovery as i feel without the afterword i would have assumed she just died quietly.
i leant alot in this book about why people develop ED's as i always thought it was much more streight forward, like i look in the mirror and i see a fat person no matter how much i weight.
and as in this book it is not always the case and eating is the largest part of a ED not so much the weight.
this book has been very informative and scary in some respects
but all in all it is still a really good read and very easy to get in to
