Thank you Plum Crazy.
I really really really wanted to read this book. Thank you!
You can take the girl out of Yorkshire, but you can't take the Yorkshire out of the girl.
I still love Yorkshire :)

Happy Yorkshire Day

Wow, what a fantastic book? Thank you Plum Crazy for sending this book.

The book is a great psychological thriller. Mackintosh, is far from being predictable with her story line. Jenna, is a thirty something year old lady who lives in Bristol. Her past, as "Jennifer" brings with it a lot of hurt and unresolved pain from the past. Jenna leaves behind her pain in Bristol and relocates to a small coastal hamlet in SW Wales.
Jenna restarts her life from scratch. Crying and inconsolable she meets a new community of friends and finds herself a beautiful cottage nestled on a cliff path. Without giving too much away, she finds love in a local veterinary surgeon after finding an abandoned puppy and "would you like to go out for a drink?" Her closest of new friends, Bethan takes care of her and she starts a new life, by selling atmospheric photographs of the sandy beach with messages or names to tourists and locals alike.
But her past, does come back to haunt her. The story changes completely and what we read to begin with, is completely in the wrong context. Her past, comes in the form of the dark, shady, and manipulative character called Ian (her husband). How she lost touch with her sister and miscarried Ian's child.

The book is very well written. A little bit triggery in part, but it is done articulately and sensitively. A highly recommended read.

Passed to me by a friend, as I had read another Mackintosh book. This was a great story. I really enjoyed the contrast of the town and country parts. It was beautifully written.
I have to say- the twists at the end we’re not that surprising and one I found difficult to imagine. That said, this is a great read!
